Alright, let's make this February-March Lunch Challenge official. If you would like to join me in my challenge to not spend any money on lunch/snacks/coffee/tea during work days from now until March 31st, please leave a comment. Also, if you could indicate whether you're starting with me NOW, or on March 1st, that would be great! :)

Every Friday I'll post a little review of the week to see how I've done, and it would be awesome if you'd also leave a comment on your blog, or in my blog with how you're doing!

P.S. if someone else takes you out for lunch or treats you to something, that doesn't count. Also, if you have to do 'business lunches,' that you get reimbursed for, that doesn't count either. The only thing that counts is if you pay for the food out of your own pocket.

If you and J both do the challenge, he won't be able to take you out for lunch/treats, which would help break up the brown bagging :) You should do the challenge for March and he for April, to give yourself little breaks!

I'll do it. Starting now. I just got back from the grocery store where I picked up an unnecessary bag of chips. Delish, but unnecessary because I brought my lunch and snacks today. ~ Erika

I'm so there! I'm starting now!

I'm on day 50 now not going out to lunch. It hasn't been too difficult. I normally bring sandwiches or leftovers from dinner. Goodness, I've saved some jack!!

Yes, I'm in...I usually don't eat out, but I am prone to a snack run occasionally.

I'll start tomorrow because I bought some breakfast this morning... : )

It'll be easier with a bunch of you doing it :-) I'd join, but I haven't eaten lunch out since.... November?

    Good luck!

I've tagged you on my blog, if you are interested.

    Krystal,

Count me in. I just blew $7 on random crap in 1 day so I have got to stop.

I'd love to join you! It will be tough but hopefully it will become a habit.

I'll start now. After - it seems like the fashionable thing to do. Niki

Start date for me February 20th

Do businesses lunches that I get reimbursed for (and are kind of mandatory) count? If not, I'm in for February 20. Yes, I'm giving myself one day of padding.
I'll post about it on my blog, too.

Oops, change me to March 1. I'm not strong enough to skip out on my two coworkers who are leaving next week -- I don't want to miss their goodbye lunches!

Count me in, too! I haven't for a while except for today when I got some Diet 7up because I was feeling nauseated, but other than that I've been good lately. I used to blow at least $3 every day on snacks and feeding my Diet Dr Pepper addiction. I'll start today.

I'm in! I'll start next week on the 25th, though--I *just* moved and don't have much yet in the way of groceries or cooking supplies, but I can remedy that over the weekend.

I'm also only including lunch and snacks, not breakfast, (though I'm going to try to wrangle dinner into it as well) and have a known exception coming up in the form of a weekly rotating obligation that will hit once during the month.

    What a great challenge!

Count me in starting now. The coffee break at lunch will be the hardest habit to break!

Count me in starting tomorrow 2/20. Good thing I got my Mexican fix in today.

I'll start March 1. I need to go grocery shopping and don't have time until then. :)

I'm joining, but on one caveat: Technically, I work in a restaurant and don't have to spend a dime on food. In lieu of this, I'll be abstaining from spending money at school which is my BIGGEST weakness in terms of extra food costs.

I'm in starting today! I've brought my lunch to work the past 2 days.

  24. Sarah said...

    I will join :)

I also have a question about PPP - I cant figure it out!! None of the posting opportunities are available - what am I doing wrong?

  25. Stephanie said...

I will take the challenge, starting March 1st. No lunch or snacks during work, Monday through Friday. It's going to be tough, especially with those afternoon chocolate cravings, but I CAN DO IT.

  26. Toxic Money said...

I am so in! Can I start on Monday 2/25?

  27. Grad School Girl said...

I'm going to join as well, and start this upcoming Monday (so the 25th). I however need to add a caveat for myself which is that I will be traveling for conferences for part of the month, but will make restrictions for that as well (see my blog for details). Thanks for doing this!

Ok, add me too the list. I wasn't going to join because this is something I do anyway. but I do have occasional slip ups, so I'm in!

  35. grittner said...

OK, I'm in on the challenge. I was going to try this anyways.... but maybe the challenge will keep me accountable and on track. I'll start-up on March 1st.

  36. HighClassLowIncome said...

Count me in for the challenge! I'd like to start on Wed. the 27th just to be on the safe side, I plan on eating at home today but who knows.

  37. ntbeachnc said...

I'll join in too. I usually do this anyway, but it'll be a good way to ensure I do it. I will start today...I already ate, having brought in soup and fruit for lunch. I drank water from our kitchen in the office.

P.S. I enjoy reading your blog, and am adding you to my blogroll. Congrats on being debt free!

  38. desiarabi said...

Count me in. I already try to bring my lunch to work but i'll officially start this challenge march 1st!

Count me in! I eat out for lunch maybe once or twice a month at the most, so this will be a breeze for me. (Last summer, I ate McDs and vending machine fare much of the time. Ugh.)

I just started a blog about my own finances and my struggle to become debt free. I look forward to reading your blog and others' who have posted here.

Just in time! I would like to join the challenge too. This means I can still get Starbucks, as long as it's on the weekend, right??
