Today has not started well.

During the long walk to work (I had my big overnight bag with me b/c I have to leave work early to catch the bus to the ferries), it started to rain. A lot. And I started to get cramps in the arches of my feet. Perhaps from the extra weight of my bags ... or maybe because I was wearing poor walking shoes. And my feet were getting wet from the rain. But honestly, my wet crampy feet were the least of my concerns.

Because then, it started to smell like cinnamon buns. No joke. Delicious, fresh-from-the-oven cinnamon buns. Which is weird, because I don't think I've eaten, or even thought of a cinnamon bun in years. But the smell was so wonderful and tasty that I was almost tempted to go somewhere to buy one ... but it was raining, and I was late for work due to walking so slowly, and I would have failed the February-March Lunch Challenge if I did. Plus, where could I find a freshly baked cinnamon bun while walking through an industrial park, along a busy highway?

So now, I'm sitting here in my cubicle, and all I can think of is a gooey, hot, delicious, massive cinnamon bun. I don't even want to do any work until I can get my hands on one.

Cinnamon buns are perhaps a greater daily threat to my health than my smoking. I have 'em almost daily. To hell with buns of steel -- I have buns of cinnamon.

I have to share this recipe with you. It really is devastating. I am a member of a recipe exchange blog and this was a post from one of the other members. I made them one weekend - pure awesomeness. (and easy too)

    Devastating Cinnamon Rolls

P.S. I replied to your April challenge as Leslie, but now have a blog name too. I'm still me but with a 'new' name. :)

Yum... Evil is so delicious. At times like this I find that if I'm still thinking about it the next day, I give into the craving. Could be why I'm on my way to losing some weight though. ..

My mom has an AMAZING recipe for homemade cinnamon buns. No lie. I've never found a bakery that matches hers. We had a friend from Germany stay with us for a while in the late '80s, and ever since then, she's talked about them. A few years ago, she introduced my mom to her fiance, and he immediately said, "I've heard about your cinnamon buns." :D

If I can convince her to divulge the secret, I'll send you the recipe.

@ Spilling Buckets- Thank you, I opted to try my own since I had the day off and your linked recipe was delicious and simple, I halved the amounts and made mini ones.
Totally satisfied my cravings and provided lovely snacks for the rest of the long weekend- bonus a whole heap cheaper than one large store bought one!
