$92 for me this week. Better, at least! So, total is at $192/370. Eesh.

I have the receipts at home, but I think we spent $115 out of our $95 target at the grocery store. That included extra purchases of tulips for the dinner table and somethin' else.
Also spent an extra ~$40 in an unexpected grocery trip when my parents dropped in from Ontario to surprise me!

$40/$150 (for 2). This is very low right now because I've only actually been to the grocery store once this month to buy some staples (milk, bread, butter). $31 of this has gone to my monthly food co-op purchase. (I'll explain the co-op at the end of the month but basically I get about $60 worth of food-fresh veggies and fruits AND meat-for half the price). I also bought a lot of bulk stuff last month that I'm still using this month.

This week i managed to spend only $20.16 but my husband is complaining that there's no food in the house and wants me to go shopping and my step daughter is going on a weekend camping trip for school and needs to bring her own food...

I'm going to be way over:(

    $332.55 / $400

$80 for me this week...here's hoping that it's less next week based on my stocking up.

$170.64/$350 and that's with no grocery spending in the first 7 days. Scary! We did need to stock up on some staples though, and we just moved, so I think some slack is necessary.

I'm up to $161.29/$500.00 in cash, but we also spent at least $136.57 on credit cards (and I sure I'm missing at least one trip my hubby made to the candy store, but he hasn't updated his passbook and other data yet and I wanted to get this in before we go away for the weekend).

    Let's say I'm at $297.86, because that's what I can document.

Not so great. Sixty percent of the way through the money and only fifty percent of the way through the month.

Killers? Buying junk food at the gas station when we gas up midway to and from our other place. Buying sliced roast beef for Shabbat dinner last week and this week, $45.96 for a little over 2 pounds of meat! (It's $21.99/lb.)

Weekends that we stay in town I usually spend more like $16/week on meat &/or fish for the 3 of us. But when we go away I'm paying the extra $6/week in order to have something I can serve on a moment's notice, without any preparation, after a 4 hour drive.

The junk food and food out is something to try to get under better control with next month's challenge. We're already at $79.42 halfway through the month. I'm still trying to settle on an amount though. Maybe $120?

$290.59/$350 for three weeks. I did a grocery trip today, and we're good for the rest of the week and then some. I stocked up on ground beef and will also be using stuff from the pantry. If I can actually make the food last until the beginning of June, I'll be thrilled.

I spent $0 week 2, on top of my $24.96 for week 1. I made up for it this week though. :)

  26. SF Money Musings said...

I've spent $0 on week 2 only because I was still finishing leftovers from the party I hosted. Not including the party food, I've spent $4. I think my metabolism has slowed a lot and so I don't eat a lot - tofu, vegetables and fruit mostly. And since I spent about $40 on party food for 10 people - way too much, would it be more accurate to say my grocery spending in week 1 was $40?

I'm sorry I'm late in responding but I'm backing out of the challenge since I moved back home sooner than anticipated so my mother buys groceries now =P (heh what a luxury!) I'll sign up for the June challenge soon.
